Cris Evatt has been an author since 1981. Her first book, How to Organize Your Closet & Your Life!, a Ballantine book, led to a six-city media tour where she organized a closet for Regis Philbin on A.M. Los Angeles. Cris was one of the original members of The National Organization of Professional Organizers. Since then, she has written extensively about living simply, home organizing, giving-and-taking, and gender differences. Her books have been translated into five languages worldwide.

Cris's relentless passion for the truth guides her reading and writing choices. Currently, she is captivated by the latest findings in neuroscience and evolutionary biology. Websites she visits frequently are Ted.com, Edge.org and Naturalism.org.

Born and raised in Fresno, California, Cris attended UCLA on four scholarships and graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago. During her youth, she was an avid diver, waterskier, ballet dancer, and tennis player. She has worked as a blackjack dealer at Lake Tahoe, a dental hygienist in San Francisco, a columnist for The Funfinder, a Marin County magazine, and a yoga teacher at the Las Hadas Resort in Manzanillo, Mexico.

Her favorite sayings:
• When in doubt, throw it out.
• Give to Givers and take from Takers.
• We’re not here for a long time; we’re here for a good time.

Cris is married to Dave, a sailor, swimmer, and gardener. She has two 6’4” tall, handsome, adventuresome stepsons. She lives in Hawaii and California. When she’s not writing or giving workshops, she finds time to snorkel, meet friends for tea, people-watch in Paris, and hike in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
